XVIII International Congress of the Spanish Biophysical Society 2025

June 2025, Granada, Spain – Cutting-edge research from Durham University was proudly represented at the XVIII International Congress of the Spanish Biophysical Society (SBE), held in the historic city of Granada from 24th to 27th June 2025.

Jonathan Heddle, Director of the Centre for Programmable Biological Matter at Durham University, attended as an invited plenary speaker.  Jonathan talked about the research done by our fantastic team at CPBM in designing understanding and building biological nanostructures.

The Congress brought together leading biophysicists from across Europe and beyond, providing a platform for the latest developments in areas ranging from structural biology to membrane biophysics and nanotechnology.

Jonathan’s take: “It was an honour to share our work at such a renowned gathering of the biophysics community, thanks to Álvaro Martínez del Pozo for the invitation!”

A special congratulations goes to Durham PhD student Etna Nebreda Boto from the Centre of Programmable Biological Matter, who was awarded the “la Caixa Postgraduate Fellowship Abroad” in 2024, which provided the funding allowing her to attend this conference. Etna presented a poster showcasing TRAP-cage advancements at the conference.

The event was once again enjoyed by all those who attended and we would like to thank the SBE for their excellent work in putting this event together unsuccessfully once again! If you would like to view more information on the conference please visit their website.
